IS CBD LEGAL IN THE UK

The short answer is yes! As long as a CBD product has less than 0.3% THC content, then it is legal to be sold in the UK. All of SMOKO CBD Oils and CBD Gummies have less than 0.1% if any THC at all!

WHAT IS CBD

CBD is a cannabinoid that is extracted from the cannabis sativa plant. CBD and other cannabinoids have been found to have a positive effect on the endocannabinoid system in our bodies. CBD is being used around the world as a natural alternative to pharmaceutical treatments for a range of physical and mental conditions.

WHERE DOES CBD COME FROM

CBD is a naturally occurring compound that is found in the cannabis sativa L plant.  Also know as Cannabidiol, CBD and hundreds of other compounds are found in the resin of the cannabis flower.  Other beneficial compounds that can be found in cannabis plant include terpenes, fatty and amino acids many of which are found in broad and full spectrum CBD products. At SMOKO, we use broad spectrum CBD extracts giving you the full benefits of this natural product!

WILL CBD OILS GET ME "HIGH"

A common misconception with CBD is that it may get you high like smoking marijuana. THC is the psychoactive compound that gets you high. CBD and marijuana come from different strains of the cannabis plant. Marijuana is generally derived from the cannabis indica strain which has a higher concentration of THC. On the other hand, CBD from the cannabis sativa strain has a minimal THC content. During the extraction process, all traces of THC is removed when creating CBD products. So SMOKO CBD Oils and CBD Gummies have zero to trace amounts of THC and will not get you "high".

WHAT ARE THE DIFFERENT TYPES OF CBD

There are 3 main types of CBD and it depends on how the CBD is extracted from the cannabis plant. Full Spectrum CBD is a whole extract and contains CBD and small amounts of THC, other cannabinoids, flavonoids and terpenes. Broad Spectrum CBD contains CBD, other cannabinoids, flavonoids and terpenes - but has any trace amounts of THC removed during the extraction process. CBD Isolate is a highly distilled oil with only CBD - all other cannabinoids or terpenes are removed. At SMOKO, we use a Broad Spectrum CBD extract with the benefits of a wide range of cannabinoids, flavonoids and terpenes.

WILL I FAIL A DRUG TEST TAKING CBD

Another misconception about CBD Oils and CBD Gummies. Drug tests are looking for banned substances like THC. However, CBD is not an illegal substance and is 100% legal to buy and sell in the UK and Europe. So taking CBD as part of your daily health regime will not make you fail a drugs test. Just to be on the safe side, we would always recommend that you speak with your employer and advise them you are taking CBD for health and wellbeing reasons so they are aware if there are any issues with a workplace drugs test.

HOW DOES CBD AFFECT MY BODY

Our bodies actually produce our own cannabinoids naturally.  In fact there is an entire system in our bodies that is called the Endocannabinoid System (ECS) which consists of a massive network of receptors and neurotransmitters connecting our organs, muscles, nerves and brain.  Adding CBD and other cannabinoids as part of a healthy diet interacts and "feeds" our Endocannabinoid system with the extra fuel to efficiently operate.

There is lots of research and studies that have been done that demonstrates some of the positive effects that CBD has on our physical bodies and mental states - many of these benefits can be read about in our article that outlines the Health and Wellbeing Benefits of CBD.

HOW MUCH CBD SHOULD I TAKE

At the moment, there is no clinical recommendations on how much CBD an individual should take on a daily basis.  As CBD is a food supplement, we can make some recommendations but it does depend on a number of factors including how old you are, are you female or male, your weight, why you are taking CBD, what are your ailments, etc. etc..

We would definitely suggest starting on a lower strength CBD product and taking it in small doses and work you way up until you find the right combination of CBD product / CBD Strength / Amount of CBD / # of Times A Day.

It shouldn't take long to find what works best for you to achieve the desired results. We would recommend not to exceed 75mg of CBD in a day without seeking approval from your GP.
